Peer Review Policy
International Journal of Pedodontic Rehabilitation follows a double peer review system in which at least two professional peer reviewers evaluate each manuscript.
All submissions to the journal are initially reviewed for completeness and formatting requirements. Manuscripts are then subjected to editorial assessment to determine their suitability for peer review. In cases where an editor is listed as an author or has any competing interest related to a manuscript, another member of the Editorial Board will oversee the peer review process.
Editors consider the peer reviewers’ comments and recommendations while making the final decision; however, the final editorial decision is independent of reviewer opinions. A major ethical or scientific concern raised either by a reviewer or by the editorial team may result in rejection of the manuscript. Authors will receive peer review reports along with the editorial decision on their submission.
International Journal of Pedodontic Rehabilitation – Peer Review Process
1. Initial Processing by Editorial Assistant
The Editorial Assistant performs preliminary quality checks of the submitted manuscript, including formatting, completeness, plagiarism screening, and adherence to journal guidelines. Authors may be requested to provide additional information or make technical corrections before the manuscript proceeds to editorial evaluation.
Estimated time: 2–7 days.
2. Editor Assignment and Evaluation
Once the manuscript successfully passes the initial checks, it is assigned to an appropriate Associate Editor or Editorial Board member. The assigned editor evaluates the manuscript for scientific quality, originality, ethical compliance, relevance, and suitability within the scope of the journal. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.
Estimated time: 3–7 days.
3. Awaiting Reviewer Selection
If the manuscript is considered suitable for peer review, the Editorial Team identifies external expert reviewers in the relevant specialty area. In most cases, a minimum of two independent peer reviews are required. Multiple reviewers may be invited before the required number of reviewers accept the invitation.
4. Peer Review in Progress
The manuscript undergoes double peer review. Reviewers are generally provided 2–4 weeks to complete their evaluation. If a reviewer withdraws or fails to submit the review within the allotted time, additional reviewers may be invited, which can extend the review timeline.
Estimated peer review period: Approximately 2–4 weeks.
5. Editor Decision in Progress
After receiving the required reviewer reports, the Editor evaluates the reviewers’ comments and recommendations to make an informed editorial decision, which may include:
Acceptance
Minor Revision
Major Revision
Rejection
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage, while rejected manuscripts will be communicated to the corresponding author with reviewer comments wherever applicable.
Estimated time for editorial decision: Few additional days depending on reviewer response time and issue scheduling.
6. In Production
Once accepted, the corresponding author will receive an official acceptance email. The manuscript will undergo final quality checks, copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, and production processing. The Editor will communicate the publication timeline and provide updates regarding article progress until publication.
TIME PERIOD
The journal aims to complete the peer review and editorial decision process as efficiently as possible. However, reviewers contribute voluntarily, and delays may occasionally occur due to reviewer unavailability, reassignment of reviewers, revision cycles, or additional editorial evaluations.
Approximate Timeline
Initial editorial screening: 2–7 days
Reviewer selection and acceptance: 3–7 days
Peer review completion: approximately 2–4 weeks
Final editorial decision: few additional days depending on reviewer responses and issue processing schedules.
