Abstract
Background: Developmental enamel defects, including dental fluorosis and molar–incisor hypomineralization, can adversely affect the esthetics of young permanent incisors and negatively influence the psychosocial well-being of children and adolescents. Management of these defects requires minimally invasive approaches that preserve tooth structure while providing satisfactory esthetic outcomes. Case Series: This case series describes the esthetic management of three pediatric patients with mild to moderate intrinsic enamel discoloration using the conservative etch–bleach–seal (EBS) technique. The standardized protocol included phosphoric acid etching, application of 5% sodium hypochlorite to remove organic pigments, and resin sealant infiltration to stabilize the treated enamel. Clinical outcomes were assessed immediately after treatment and during a 6-month follow-up period. Results: All three cases demonstrated marked improvement in tooth colour and overall esthetic appearance immediately following treatment. Both patients and parents reported high levels of satisfaction with the treatment outcomes. No postoperative sensitivity, pulpal symptoms, or adverse effects were observed throughout the 6-month follow-up period. Conclusion: The etch–bleach–seal technique is a safe, economical, and minimally invasive treatment option for managing intrinsic enamel discoloration in young permanent teeth. It effectively enhances esthetics while preserving enamel integrity and provides predictable clinical outcomes in pediatric patients.
