Abstract

Gingival recession is a frequently encountered condition in clinical practice that can result in esthetic concerns, root sensitivity, and compromised periodontal health. Various mucogingival procedures have been developed to manage such defects, among which Free Gingival Grafting (FGG) remains a reliable technique to augment the width of attached gingiva and stabilise the gingival margin. This case report presents the management of localised gingival recession in a 39-year-old female patient who reported sensitivity in the lower anterior region. Clinical examination revealed Miller’s Class I recession with inadequate attached gingiva. After Phase I therapy, FGG was performed using a graft harvested from the palatal donor site. Post-operative healing was uneventful, and follow-up visits at one week and two months showed successful graft uptake, increased width of keratinised tissue, and complete resolution of sensitivity. This case highlights the effectiveness of FGG in managing recession defects and restoring periodontal health and comfort.
