Abstract

Case Description: A 5-year-old boy, Master Raunak Kumar Gupta, diagnosed with focal epilepsy, presented with severe decay in his upper front teeth. His medical condition and behavioural challenges complicated conventional dental treatment. Despite initial uncooperativeness and anxiety, a comprehensive clinical and radiographic evaluation revealed pulpal involvement in teeth 51, 52, 61, and 62. Considering his medical history and limited cooperation, alternative treatment options were explored. Treatment: To ensure safety and effectiveness, an Essix appliance was selected to replace the missing teeth. This non-invasive and aesthetically acceptable solution minimized potential risks related to his epilepsy. The Essix appliance successfully maintained dental alignment and function without any complications. It improved patient comfort and caregiver satisfaction.

Conclusion: This case highlights the importance of individualized dental care for pediatric patients with complex medical conditions. The Essix appliance proved to be a safe, effective, and patient-friendly option for managing early childhood caries in medically compromised children.
