Abstract
Forensic dentistry is defined as the branch of forensic medicine which in the interest of justice deals with the
proper handling & examination of the dental evidence and also with the proper evaluation and presentation of
the dental findings, which helps in solving medico legal cases. In this era of medical breakthroughs and
technological advancements, the rate in the occurrence of crimes and heinous activities continues to rise
unchecked. Though their effects are irreversible, it becomes of paramount importance to identify the victims
and bring the trouble makers under the axe of law and order. In this juncture, the role played by the dentist is
fast expanding and upgrading itself. During the last couple of decades, dentists have contributed several unique
methods encompassing dental anatomy, histology, radiography for the purpose of identification. Thus this
article enlightens about the scope of forensic dentistry
