Abstract

Introduction: Molar incisor hypomineralization is a condition of systemic origin that involves mostly the first permanent molars and incisors. The increased protein content in hypomineralized enamel is the main challenge for bonding to this altered substrate. This is a case control study carried out to compare the effect of different deproteinizing agents on shear bond strength of composite resin to Permanent teeth.

Methods: Total 80 teeth were divided into 4 different groups. All teeth are etched with 37 \% phosphoric acid prior to application of deproteinizing agents. After etching different deprotinizing agents were applied on teeth according to different groups. Four different gropus were : Group I: 5\% sodium hypochlorite used as deproteinizing agent Group II: Papain from carica papaya as deproteinizing agent Group III: Stem bromelain from pinepal as deproteinizing agent Group IV: Diode laser used as deproteinizing agent. Following this bonding agents was applied on treated surface and composite resin disc are prepared. Samples were then tested with universal testing machine for shear bond strength.

Results: Resin bonded composite had a significantly higher microshear bond strength to MIH affected teeth deproteinized using Diode laser followed by Sodium hypochlorite, bromelain and papain.

Conclusions:The shear bond strength of Resin Bonded Composite material is increased by enamel deproteinization prior to acid etching. Resin Bonded Composite had a significantly higher micro shear bond strength to MIH affected teeth deproteinized using Diode laser followed by Sodium hypochlorite, bromelain and papain.
