Abstract
Background: Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) is the most common form of progressive hair loss affecting both men and women and often has a considerable impact on self-esteem and quality of life. Topical Minoxidil remains the standard treatment; however, newer cosmeceutical ingredients such as Redensyl and Anagain have recently gained attention for their potential to stimulate hair follicle stem cells and prolong the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle.
Aim: To compare the efficacy and safety of a topical Redensyl + Anagain combination with Minoxidil monotherapy in patients with androgenetic alopecia.
Materials and Methods: A prospective comparative clinical study was conducted among patients diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. Participants were allocated into two groups. Group A received a topical formulation containing Redensyl and Anagain, while Group B received topical Minoxidil. Treatment outcomes were evaluated over 12–16 weeks using parameters such as hair density, hair thickness, patient satisfaction, and occurrence of adverse effects.
Results: Both treatment groups showed improvement in hair growth parameters. The Redensyl + Anagain group demonstrated greater improvement in hair density, whereas the Minoxidil group showed better improvement in hair thickness. Patient satisfaction was similar in both groups. However, fewer local adverse effects were reported with the Redensyl + Anagain combination.
Conclusion: The Redensyl + Anagain combination appears to be a promising alternative to Minoxidil for managing androgenetic alopecia, showing comparable efficacy with better tolerability. Further large-scale randomized studies are needed to validate these findings.
